Silver Medal Winner, 1997 World Beer Championships - India Pale Ales.

This flavorful beer is made in the India pale ale style, originally manufactured in Great Britain for their West India colonies, but with an American twist. Made with flavorful and full bodied pale ale malt, combined with a touch of caravienne for color and carapils for body, the rich flavor of this beer is matched and enhanced by a very generous portion of Centennial and Cascade hops. The Cascade gives this beer its distinctive floral aroma and a uniquely American character. (O.G. - 14.5P/1058. Hops - 48.5 IBUs)

Pours a bright orange with small amounds of head. The first thing I notice about this beer is the clarity - there's little to no cloudiness whatsoever. The aroma reminds me of slightly damp hay bales with some light cereal notes in the background. Has a lightly carbonated mouth texture, with a nice balance of hop bitterness and malt sweetness. The taste hits you with a very sweet malt presence up front followed by a lemon peel and grapefruit lingering hop bitterness in the back. The entire process is quite clean and straightforward, though everything works very well together.
