Huge, airy near-white head. Body is crystal clear, deep gold. Strong hop nose; Lots of pine and resin, dust and metal, less of the more fruity stuff. A pleasant caramel scent reveals after the beer is reaching room temperature. Dryish, restained malt body, with faint caramel. Very generously hopped, especially bittering. More pine and resin, also some citrus zest and and lemon. Taste has a noticable sweetness, but the bittering hops is dominating, giving the beer an acidulous-sour edge. Mid-bodied and oily in the mouth. Lasting, hoppy finish. Straightforward, and maybe one-dimensional, still a potent and highly drinkable IPA.

In the 1700's one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content preserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado's hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!
