Finally! Black Hole is what Mikkeller is all about. Daring, vulgar and extreme. From the very beginning Mikkellers goal has been to push the limit and with this warming, intense imperial stout, a new chapter in the Danish beer history has been written. The high bitterness from the hops and the sweetness from the malt and alcohol, creates a good balance which makes Black Hole an explosion of nuances, but also leaves a feeling of a perfect and complex beer - in the heavyweight category.

Pours very dark brown body with tiny creme colored head, which soons fades to only a ring around the glass. Aroma of vanilla, coffee cake, creme brulee, dark chocolate. Flavor is quite complex, and features a strong vanilla presence, although it is not dominating. Also present are sweetened chocolate, espresso. The finish resembles bitter dark chocolate from a blend of the hops and malts, but eventually sweetens into a french vanilla. As the beer warms, dark fruit tones become apparent, chocolate covered cherries and figs, and even soft raspberry notes. Additionally, as it warms the finish becomes less sweet and the coffee tones become more dominating. Mouth feel is perfect; although it is full bodied and thick, it is not oily or syrupy; instead, it is silky, like velvet. It reminds me of southern tiers creme brulee stout alot, although there is the added fruitiness here. Also reminds me of great divides yeti, though here the hops are less predominant and more subtle.
