Broken Halo IPA is a beer produced in the spirit of traditional IPA products shipped from the UK to India in the late 1800s. The almost excessive amounts of Cascade and Columbus hops used in Broken Halo give it notable citrus and grapefruit aromas and flavors. The beer bitterness measures high but tastes smooth due to the full-bodied, Caramel malt sweetness. The finish is juicy, clean, and short lived. A devilishly bold, heavenly smooth India Pale Ale. IBU's 45 malts: PALE, CARAMEL 10L & 20L, carapils hops: ALCHEMY, CASCADE, zeus
Goes well with SPICY HOT FOODS LIKE MEXICAN, ASIAN DISHES, OR HOT WINGS.
Poured very pale amber with minimal head. Not a gorgeous beer to look at, color is a bit washed out and not much sitting on top. Aroma suggests aggressive dry hopping though not OTT. Powerfully bitter, perhaps too much so, though the bitterness lingers a looooooong time - a fond memory. Body is a bit light for that much power. No evidence of anything floral or citrus going on. A tinge over-carbonated for my idea of an IPA. Lacks the crispness that makes a beer memorable. A solid but not fantasitc beer yet I'd never turn one down if offered .
